EU Watchdog to Crack Down on Banks With Too Few Women on Boards

The banking supervisory body of the European Union declared on Tuesday that it will prosecute 28% of banks that were discovered to lack documented policies regarding diversity on their boards. It is considered polite to have an equal number of men and women occupying the middle places and to have at least one woman in the highest position.

In spite of this, women only make up a small portion of top executive roles at significant financial organizations. Additionally, the proportion of female CEOs—just over 13%—remains well below the national norm.

The elusive CEO has not yet been found, according to a poll of the UK's most significant banks, which also includes some of the country's most well-known companies.

Speaking with former CEOs and interviewing female bankers reveals that there is a lot of work to be done. to be done. This is most evident in the case of women CEOs. The real problem, however, is the total lack of equality at all levels within companies.

Employers need to implement cultural, policy, and work environment reforms to treat female employees fairly and close the gender pay gap.
