American Legion National High School Oratorical Contest

Deadline: Varies Available to: High School Freshmen through High School Seniors Award Amount: From $14,000 - $18,000 The National High School Oratorical Contest is open to junior high and high school students who are under the age of 20 and citizens or lawful permanent residents of the United States. You must prepare an oration on some part of the U.S. Constitution, with some emphasis on the duties and obligations of people to our government. Each individual state champion certified into and participating in the first round of the national contest receives an additional $1,500 scholarship.

Families of Freedom Scholarship

Deadline: Rolling Available to: Undergraduate Students Award Amount: Varies The Families of Freedom Scholarship is available to the dependent children, spouses, and domestic partners of 9/11 victims, including airplane crew and passengers; World Trade Center and Pentagon workers and visitors; and relief workers, including firefighters, emergency medical personnel, and law enforcement personnel who were involved in the rescue efforts.

Leaders Save Lives Scholarship

Deadline: Varies Available to: High School Freshmen through College Award Amount: 10 rewards between $1,000 and $2,500nd $2,500 The Leaders Save Lives Scholarship is open to students enrolled in high school or at a recognized college or university. You must host an American Red Cross blood drive and collect a minimum of 25 pints of blood to qualify for this prize. You may not adopt an existing blood drive. However, a fresh student may take over an existing Leaders Save Lives blood drive.

City Year - Volunteer for America

Deadline: Varies Available to: College Freshmen to Graduate Students, Year 1-5 Award Amount: 10 awards between $1,000 and $2,500 City Year, a proud member of AmeriCorps, is a nationwide service organization that brings together young adults from varied backgrounds for a hard ten months of full - time community service, leadership development, and civic participation. In 20 places around the United States, these young leaders engage their talents and enthusiasm to address our country's most urgent needs. City Year corps members engage people in service and make a positive difference in their communities and in the lives of children and youth. Corps participants also receive a weekly living stipend and minimal health insurance.
